I live in Stockport, South Manchester. Outside of work my focus is on spending quality time with my wife and our 2 young daughters.
I have recently become available as a result of voluntary redundancy which has afforded me a once-in-a-career opportunity to 'go it alone' (with added guard rails!).
I am motivated by helping the causes I want to help, by solving problems, through collaboration & team work, and by using technology to improve peoples' lives.
I believe there are thousands of small & medium sized companies, start ups & scale ups in the UK who do not have the means or desire to invest in employing people with my skills on a full time basis. I believe that offering my services on part-time, freelance, or FTC basis I can offer smaller companies a 'big consultancy' skill set, without the big consultancy day rate!
I aim to be transparent and competitive with my pricing.
I care about the people I work with and for, and I hate to see people struggling with menial, tedious work. The first part of my career was spent as an in-house accountant. Work that I could do but was not passionate about. I spent most of my time building small systems and automating processes, giving me and my colleagues more time for more meaningful activities and also allowing everyone to get home on time.
This 'unofficial' role as a tehnologist, improving systems & processes, led me into management information reporting & Business Intelligence. This was my first proper tech job and where I started to climb my T-shaped ladder.
My most recent gig was as a software consultant for Thoughtworks, working out of their Manchester office. This was a transformational professional & personal development experience and I want to put what I learned at Thoughtworks to good use.
I was employed as a business analyst, a product owner, and an iteration (scrum) master on various client engagements. As part of autonomous, cross-functional teams I delivered bespoke software solutions for clients. As a team we had responsibility for all aspects of the engagement and delivery, including: MVP definition; problem analysis; product inception; stakeholder alignment; agile ways of working; and delivery
